Brandon Scott Cunningham was born on April 17, 1990, at Sid Peterson Hospital in Kerrville, Texas, and passed away on August 4, 2025.

A proud graduate of Center Point High School, Class of 2008, Brandon went on to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he studied geology—driven by a fascination with the earth and its history.
At the time of his passing, Brandon was working in a managerial position at La Calabria Pizzeria and Catering in Comfort, Texas. He genuinely loved his work, especially engaging with customers. Whether he was walking someone through the menu or enthusiastically discussing the wine list (a topic he knew inside and out), Brandon had a way of making every interaction special.

One of Brandon’s greatest joys in life was acting. His acting began early, captivating his family as a child, always taking the stage in his own playful way. That early spark carried into adulthood, where he performed in productions at The Point and the Cailloux Theaters. He found joy and fulfillment in bringing characters to life and sharing that experience with others. He loved performing just as much as he loved sharing a good glass of wine.

Brandon’s life was full of hobbies and passions. He cherished his Bible study group, and recently discovered a love for pickleball—a new adventure he took on with his usual enthusiasm. He also enjoyed golfing, collecting knives and jewelry, singing karaoke, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends. And if you saw him out and about, he was likely wearing one of his beloved Irish flat caps—always looking dapper and confident.

Brandon’s charm, humor and quirks made him unforgettable to all who knew him. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, heard, and appreciated. His dynamic personality shone through in the things he loved and the people he cared about.

Brandon will be deeply missed by the many lives he touched. His family describes him best: “He was the most giving and caring individual—ever.”

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Goatie and Vickie Coldwell; great-grandparents, M.C. and Catherine Humphrey, John and Esther Magnuson, Bessie Star Coldwell; aunt, Lisa Lynn May; uncle, Mark Sweat; and great-aunt and uncles, Roger and Jean Goertz.

Survivors include parents, Shirley Coldwell Wingfield and Blake and Kelly A Cunningham; brothers, Ryan and Connor Cunningham; grandparent, Dana Rickett; aunts and uncles, Cindi Coldwell Tinnin and Kevin Gallie, Janet Cole Pape, Donnie and Kelly R. Vereide, Chad and Angela Fogle; great-aunts and uncles, Lula Mae Coldwell and Cotton Thompson, Bob and Karen Otwell, and Jane Booth; cousins, Eric Sweat, Craig Sweat and Gayle Cook, Justin Tinnin, Mackenzie and Tyler Fry, Mitchell Vereide, Jennifer Stinson, Kristin and Jimmy Moseley; and the many extended family and friends that touched the life of our Brandon Scott.

Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, officiated by Chad Fogle.

"Brandon (aka Scott) brought warmth, laughter, and quiet strength into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. His loss leaves a space that cannot be filled.

Brandon was more than just a friend — he was a patient teacher, a steady presence, and a light in many lives. My daughter Sophie adored him. He had a way of making her laugh no matter what kind of day she was having, and he was the only one with enough patience and kindness to teach her how to drive — a task many feared, but one he embraced with a calm, steady hand and a big heart. He made her feel safe, capable, and understood.

Together, Brandon and Sophie worked side by side at La Calabria in Comfort, Texas, were the “cleaning duo” every Sunday morning. They shared not just work, but a bond that brought joy and light-heartedness to each other. Whether it was sweeping up or cracking jokes, Brandon made the mundane meaningful.

He was the kind of person who gave more than he ever asked for. His sense of humor, his loyalty, and his quiet acts of care left an imprint on Sophie and I. Brandon’s spirit will live on in every story shared, every Sunday morning remembered, and in the lives he touched simply by being himself.

He is gone too soon. Rest easy, Brandon. You will always be missed."

"Shirley, I am so sorry to hear this. I have so many fond memories of Brandon--as a child riding the bus with us to football games, as a teenager on two EF trips with me to Italy and Spain (his multiple disposable cameras and us running through the streets of Madrid to catch the bus--always energetic, funny, up for everything!!) , and then as an adult performing in the Cailloux and Point Theater productions. He will be greatly missed and the world has lost a very special person. I am so sorry for your loss."
