Dorothy Mae (Fischer) Peschel, 91, of Kerrville, passed away March 18, 2026, at her home in which she had lived in for 64 years.

Dorothy was born October 22, 1934 in Sisterdale, Texas. Her parents were Ernst and Erna Fischer. On November 4, 1950, she married Joseph Hugo Peschel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe. They had been married for 59 years upon his passing in 2009.

Dorothy was employed at Kerrville ISD in the food service department for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed her job, the friendships she made with co-workers, teachers and students.

Dorothy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. She raised her five children to be Christians. Survivors include Barbara Kneese and husband Lloyd of Harper, Mary Heimann (widowed) of Kerrville, Donna Richards and husband Charles (Danny) of Leander, Danny Peschel and wife Darla of Kerrville and J.D. Peschel and wife Laura of Kerrville. Also, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Dorothy loved life especially when surrounded by family and friends. She will be dearly missed but her memory will live on.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, March 20, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Bobby Vitek. Interment will follow at Brown-Goss Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include grandsons, Clay Kneese, Kelby Kneese, Bryan Heimann and Darron Richards along with extended family members Richard Bohnert and Stephen Fischer.
