Kathryn went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
Kathryn will always be remembered for her unwavering passion for Jesus Christ and the love she held for her family. Born to Otis and Lida Fay Fincher in Lubbock, Texas, she attended Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University where she developed a desire to lead and teach others. Whether Kathryn was teaching kindergarten, running her Sir Speedy printing business, or leading Bible studies, Kathryn was most at home when helping others. As an adult, Kathryn moved to Houston, Texas and married Burleigh "BR" Murphree. Together they served faithfully at their church, establishing deep roots and celebrating their life together by camping, fishing, gardening, traveling, and playing dominoes. Most recently Kathryn resided in Kerrville, Texas where she could be closer to her oldest daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Burleigh, son-in law, Robert Rooke and her great granddaughter Kynlea Ryan Syfert.
Kathryn is survived by her sister Marilyn Fry of California; her four children Kristi (Ron) Vick, Kari Pendley, Tim (Janay) Pendley, Lori Rooke; her two extended-daughters Kathleen (Albert) Wolfe, Wendy (Jeff) Stockman; 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
