Juan Francisco Pruneda, Sr., 66, of Elgin, TX, passed away on April 1, 2026, in Kerrville, TX. He was born Kerrville, TX to Jesus H. Pruneda and Francisca C. Pruneda on May 16, 1959. Juan grew up in the Texas Hill Country and graduated from Tivy High School. He spent his final years with the love of his life, Gloria H. Pruneda, in Elgin, TX.
Juan will be remembered as a man of dedication, skill, and quiet generosity. He had a deep love for his trade as a freight driver, and enjoyed woodworking and auto repair, where his hands and heart came together to create, fix, and bring things back to life. Whether crafting something from raw materials or restoring what was broken, Juan took pride in every detail and found joy in the process.
Beyond his work, Juan was devoted to serving his church community at Everlasting Hope Presbyterian Church in Taylor, TX. As an Elder of the church, he gave his time and energy selflessly, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. His faith guided his actions, and his kindness left a lasting impact on those around him.
Juan’s legacy lives through the lives he touched, the work he created, and the love he shared so freely. His family was everything to him, especially his beloved Mother, wife, children and grandchildren and his favorite sister, Julia.
Juan Francisco Pruneda, Sr. was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, and his treasured father, Jesus H. Pruneda.
Survivors include his mother, Francisca C. Pruneda; wife, Gloria Pruneda; daughter, Jessica F. Pruneda (Robert); sons, Juan F. Pruneda, II (Debra), and Julian F. Pruneda; brothers and sisters, Jesus V. Pruneda, Obdulia P. Gamble, Auginaldo Pruneda, Virginia Thompson (Tony), Gregory C. Pruneda (Maricela), Julia P. Ralph (Robert); grandchildren, Alysia R. Pereida, Jacqueline P. Campos, Audrey A. Campos, Zayne A. Guerrero; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM, followed by a prayer service at 6 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Mass will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with Father Rudy Carrola as celebrant. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery in Kerrville, TX.
Pallbearers will be Juan Pruneda, II., Julian F. Pruneda, Tony Thompson, Robert Ralph, Robert Martinez, and Gilbert Partida.
