Virginia met the love of her life, C.E. Packer, in November of 1947. They had a whirlwind romance, marrying just three and a half short months later on March 13, 1948 in San Angelo, Texas. They were married 73 years and had five children–three boys and two girls.
Virginia graduated from San Angelo High School in 1944. She had a few jobs during her life, but her true love was being a wife and a mother. Prior to having kids, she worked at the telephone company and a title company. Later in life, she was the manager of a small hallmark shop in Kerrville, Texas. Between those jobs, Virginia loved having the opportunity to be at home and raise her children. The children were active in school and church activities, and this was a busy, happy time for her.
Virginia was a woman of faith who believed in serving others. She was very active in the Church of Christ. She rarely missed church and often spent personal time in prayer and studying her bible. Virginia supported others in need, including visiting the sick and inviting numerous guests into her home. She loved and sometimes led her ladies bible class and also taught youth bible classes over the years. She loved God and people, always prioritizing her Christian faith in life.
Virginia's hobbies included arts and crafts (especially china painting), gardening, sewing, and family camping trips. She and C.E. enjoyed all types of travel, driving or flying to all 50 states, voyages on cruise ships, and visiting Israel and the Dominican Republic.
