Nelson Hull Ferris peacefully passed away in Kerrville, TX on June 28, 2026, at the age of 85.
He graduated from Rye High School before enlisting in the US Navy. After serving, he became a boat salesman and then began his career as a firefighter for Greenwich Fire Department from which he retired after 20 years of service.
Outside of his professional life, Nelson was a beloved member of the North Mianus Yacht Club, where he spent many joyful days surrounded by friends. From there, his wife Carol and he moved to the Florida Keys where he invited others to experience the joy he found on the open sea before eventually settling down in Kerrville, TX.
Nelson was a man of many qualities, but it was perhaps his great sense of humor that endeared him most to others.
Nelson is now reunited with his beloved wife, Carol, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. He is survived by his son, John (Michelle) Ferris; daughter, Debra (Kevin) Fowler; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
