In the presence of family, John Fatheree was gathered gently into the arms of his Lord and Savior on July 5th. For over seventy years he faithfully served as the bedrock and beacon to his beloved family.
Born of the gritty stock of deep south Texas ranchers and pioneers, he spent his summers working cattle with uncles and cousins and building memories that would last a lifetime.
While attending college he met the greatest love of his life, Loine, and upon graduation they married. After serving with the US Army in the frozen reaches near Tonawanda, New York, John and Loine returned to Texas to start their family. Four children were born of their union and John’s career in the steel industry led them from Houston to Atlanta to Fort Worth and upon retirement, fifteen idyllic years in Hunt, along the banks of the Guadalupe. Five years after the heart-wrenching passing of bride of fifty-seven years, John met the second love of his life, Diane Jones. They enjoyed good times together with many happy hours and sunsets until advanced AGE, as John liked to quip, cut their journey short.
Left to miss his enduring love, guidance and incredible sense of humor are his children and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with burial to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
