William M. "Bill" Morgan, 80, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2026. Bill was born on November 15, 1945, in Massillon, Ohio, and he went on to live a life of service, good humor, and steady devotion to the people he loved.
As a young man, Bill served four years in the Air Force Security Police, including a year in Vietnam. That sense of duty carried straight into his career with the Missouri City, Texas Police Department, where he served for 26 years. Bill was never one to stay in just one lane. Over the years he cross-trained as a fireman and worked as an arson investigator, SWAT team member, K-9 handler, and community liaison officer. To the officers who came up behind him, he was a mentor whose integrity was above reproach, and he was always quick to lend his expertise and a helping hand whenever it was needed.
At home, Bill was a dedicated husband to Bonnie for 47 years and a loving father to his two children, Mike and Michelle. He had a kind and caring nature, a great sense of humor, and he never passed up a chance for a good time. Bill loved a round of golf, a good book, and a jigsaw puzzle spread across the table. Some of his happiest days were spent hunting with his son, and he treasured every moment with his grandson. Even in retirement he kept moving, showing up for weekly and sometimes daily workouts at the Kroc Center in Kerrville.
Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie, son, Mike, daughter, Michelle, brother, Jim, grandson Hunter; granddaughter Lainey, and his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pam and Jim Kirkland, and Julie and Jim Leonard.
At Bill's request, there will be no formal services. His ashes will be spread in the Texas Hill Country he loved so much and in the hills of Montana, where he spent so many happy days hunting. His family takes comfort in their faith and in knowing he is at peace, resting in God's care and in the wide open places that always felt like home to him.
Grimes Funeral Chapels-Kerrville is handling final arrangements.
In Bill's honor, the family asks that you consider a donation to Tunnels to Towers, any Kerrville flood recovery group, or a veteran's organization of your choice.
