Lavonne Shepperd Coryell

Lavonne Shepperd Coryell, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on October 26, 2024, at her home.

She was born in San Angelo to Robert Shepperd and Blanche Turner Shepperd on December 16, 1929. She married Ron B. Coryell in Kerrville, Texas on June 24, 1977.

She went to school in Rocksprings, Texas.

In her early adult life, she owned and operated two department stores: Shepperd Department Store in Carrizo Springs and Shepperd Department Store in Junction, Texas. After Lavonne married Ron, she joined him in his building business. Together they built over 125 homes in Kerrville.

Lavonne was active in the Kerrville community. She was a member of the Museum of Western Art, Riverhill Country Club and Riverhill Women’s Association, First United Methodist Church, and supporter of Peterson Regional Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bob Shepperd; and her loving husband, Ron.

Left to survive her are nieces, Beverley Zummo (Tony) and Jan Meadow (Mike); nephew, Bob Shepperd; great-nephews, Kevin (Meagan) and John Geesling (Madeline); great-great-nephew, John Declain Geesling and great-great-niece, Ada Jane Geesling.

Services for Lavonne will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Burial will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to the Museum of Western Art.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Helping Hands of the Heart Home Care and the staff of Peterson Hospice.
