Frank Brooksher

Francis Marion Brooksher III, a cherished husband, father, Pepaw, and dedicated public servant, passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on August 3, 1948, in Killeen, Texas, to Francis Marion Brooksher II and Muriel Louise Crocker Brooksher.

Frank’s life was a testament to his deep devotion to his family, his community, and his faith. For the past decade, he served as the Pastoral Care Minister at Trinity Baptist Church, where his compassion, wisdom, and steadfast dedication touched countless lives. Frank shared his love for Christ with everyone he met, leaving a legacy of kindness, discipleship, and humility that will resonate for generations.

Frank was married for 56 years to his beloved sweetheart, Judy Brooksher. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to their family that served as a foundation for their children and grandchildren.

Frank was a devoted father to his three children, Tanya Brooksher Poe (married to Daryle Poe), Tara Brooksher LaMontia (married to Nickolas LaMontia), and Trent Brooksher (married to Natasha Gardner Brooksher). His love for his children knew no bounds, and his guidance and support were a constant source of strength. He was an amazing Pepaw to his grandchildren: Abigayle Poe Young (married to Shane Young), Nicholas LaMontia, Hayden Poe, Avery Brooksher, and Elyse Brooksher. His affection and pride for his grandchildren were evident in every interaction, and he found such joy in watching them grow and flourish. His wisdom and steady presence shaped their lives and will remain a guiding light in their hearts.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Tracy Brooksher Saunders (married to Russell Saunders). He is survived by his sister, JoLynn Brooksher Gross (married to Gary Gross), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, who were an integral part of his life.

A man of great integrity, Frank served for 35 years with the Houston Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant, and attended the FBI National Academy. His commitment to protecting and serving the community earned him the admiration of colleagues and citizens alike. He continued his law enforcement career 7 more years in Estes Park, CO with the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department where he left an indelible mark of excellence in his service. Frank was a true example of dedication, and his legacy in law enforcement will not soon be forgotten.

An avid outdoorsman, Frank loved spending time in nature. Whether it was bow hunting in the mountains of Colorado, the plains of Kansas or the Texas Hill Country, casting a line into a tranquil stream, enjoying a round of golf, or simply marveling at the beauty of God's creation, Frank found peace and fulfillment in the great outdoors. He enjoyed the simpler things in life, and he shared this passion with his family, imparting a deep respect for nature to the generations that followed. Frank’s dedication to his family and community made him a beloved figure. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a man whose character shone brightly in every aspect of his life, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. John Wheat.
