Shirley Mae (Enders) Gontarski went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 17, 2021. She was born in Monroe, Michigan to Helen Gertrude and Edwin Henry Enders. Due to circumstances of the Great Depression Era, Shirley was later raised by her Aunt Zelma and Uncle Alton Roe of Detroit, Michigan. She went to Saint Alphonsus Catholic School and where she was a member of the Saint Alphonsus Sorority (S.A.S). She would go on to finish her schooling at McKenzie High School in Detroit, Michigan where she was a baton twirler.

Shirley raised her 4 children Edward, Duronda, Andrea, and Donnie in Michigan before eventually moving to Kerrville, Texas in 1981. She worked as a nursing assistant at the Kerrville State Hospital and ultimately retired after working at Tally Elementary School.

Shirley has now entered into Heaven and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and her loyal pets, Skeezie and Lola.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eugene (Connie) Enders.

She is survived by her brother Joseph (Carole) Martin of Plymouth, Michigan, several nieces and nephews, and her children: Edward Nagy of Kerrville, Texas; Duronda (J.D.) Wagner of Mountain Home, Texas; Andrea (Ross) Smith of Harper, Texas; and Donnie Gontarski (Charlotte) of Kerrville, Texas. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Nichole Nelson, Joshua Berg, Jacob Wagner, Mikayla Wagner, Jamie Emery, Maria Garcia, Joseph Martinez, Leslie Martinez, Alexandra Martinez, Cody Smith, Megan Smith, and Steven McDaniel, as well as 15 great-grandchildren: Cole Nelson, Cade Nelson, Grace Nelson, Dallas Berg, McKenna Wagner, Wyatt Wagner, Huntley Emery, Jinx Emery, Dutch Emery, Emery Hernandez, Avery Hernandez, Adalynn Hernandez, Baby girl Hernandez, Sophia Martinez, and Elijah Costeneda.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Friday, February 26, 2021 at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Grimes Funeral Chapels officiated by Rev. Dale Friedrich. Interment will follow at Harper City Cemetery.

The Pallbearers carrying Shirley to her final resting site are Lee Nelson, Cole Nelson, Cade Nelson, Joshua Berg, Dallas Berg, Jacob Wagner, Joseph Martinez, and Cody Smith.
