Dr. Jacques "Brandon" Lewis, 69, of Kerrville, formerly of Uvalde, passed away on
September 1, 2021 in Kerrville. He was born in Binghamton, New York to Lanier Bradford Lewis and Milo Lewis on February 26, 1952 and was married to Kay Kirkendall on July 5, 1980 in Kerrville.

He attended Junction High School and graduated from The University of Texas with a B.S. Pharmacy. Before attending medical school he practiced pharmacy in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and El Paso for five years. After graduating from medical school, he, Kay, and eighteen month old John moved to Franklin, Pennsylvania, where he completed his residency in Family Practice. Their son, Nathan, was born during their time in Franklin. The next stop for Brandon and his family was El Paso, where he worked at a medical clinic in Las Cruces, New Mexico while completing requirements for Texas medical licensure. After working in San Antonio at Thousand Oaks Minor Emergency Clinic for one year, he and his family moved to Uvalde, where he practiced medicine from 1990 until 2015.

Brandon's family was deeply rooted in Edwards County, with his maternal great grandfather, Middleton Moore (M.M.) Bradford having arrived in 1879, bringing the first cattle into the county. His maternal grandmother, Maude Yett Bradford was a county deputy sheriff. Brandon grew up helping his mother on the Bradford family ranch. After leaving Junction for the University of Texas at Austin in 1970, many weekends and school breaks were spent working alongside her, working cattle and rounding up Angora goats for shearing. He and his mother introduced Kay, formerly a "city girl", to ranch life. She adapted, and ranch hands John and Nathan came along in 1982 and 1986. The entire family worked to keep the ranch going, many times including extended family and friends.

Brandon had dreamed since he was a child of becoming a physician. He doggedly pursued his dream, eventually having a busy Family Medicine practice in Uvalde. When not at the office, he was either at the ranch working cattle, repairing fence, bulldozing and chain sawing cedar trees, and filling deer feeders; or on the tennis court. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a highly respected, caring physician who continues to be missed by his patients.

Brandon was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his devoted wife, Kay, his two sons, John and Nathan (Sawyer), and granddaughter Merci.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 25, 2021 at First United Methodist Church of Uvalde with The Reverend Grady Roe officiating.
