Mary Louisa Morquecho, age 83, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 27, 2021 while residing at an assisted living facility. She was born December 25, 1937 to Luis Sanchez Silvas, Jr. and Elvira Delgado (Ayala) Silvas. She was a Kerrville pioneer having been born, lived and died in Kerrville.

She held several jobs in her history which included, Abilene State School, Inn of the Hills, James Avery Craftsmen, Kerrville State Hospital, Kerrville Public Library and private employment.

She had several hobbies that she enjoyed which included crocheting, quilting, music and dancing. At the age of 16, she met her future husband, Alfredo (Fritz) Morquecho, who was a local musician and barber. Mary and Fritz later married at her parent's home in the spring of 1955 and later renewed their vows through the Catholic Church.

Together, they had 3 beautiful children-Eddie, Bobby, and Brenda and were taught at an early age to play musical instruments and the Morquecho Family Band was formed. Mary was a huge supporter of her husband's music, often traveling with the band. Many summer vacations were spent camping with the children, traveling and later in life occasional casino trips with friends.

She is survived by her husband Fritz Morquecho; children, Eddie Morquecho and Bobby (Becky) Morquecho both of Kerrville and Brenda (Joe) Sanchez of Pflugerville TX; grandchildren include Briana Paull of Wilmington, NC, Joseph Morquecho of Houston, Tony Morquecho of Madison, AL, Felipe Morquecho of Kerrville, Jennifer Morquecho of San Antonio, Stephen Sanchez of Pflugerville and Staff Sergeant Eric Sanchez of Las Vegas. In addition, there are 9 great-grandchildren.

Mary lived a long, fruitful life watching her children and their families grow and prosper until her peaceful passing. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. We will miss her greatly.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
