Milton A. Morse, Jr. passed away Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Milton was born in Austin, Texas on January 15, 1943. He resided in Austin for 58 years, prior to moving to Mountain Home, Texas in 2001.

Milton served in the United States Air Force for 4 years. Following the Air Force, he enrolled and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1967.

Milton had a passion for real estate and spent over 30 years as an appraiser and consultant. He served his profession on both a local and national level. He was an active member of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers, serving as Vice-President and Treasurer. He also served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Appraisal Institute. Milton had the distinction as one of 24 individuals chosen to effect the merger of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers forming the Appraisal Institute, as it is still known today.

Locally, Milton was very active in the Austin real estate scene as well. Milton was a member of the Austin Board of Realtors, serving as a Director of the Austin Board, Austin Multiple Listing Service and the Texas Associate of Realtors.

In 2003, Milton turned his attention to hospitality. Along with his late wife Jane Gay, they owned and operated Sunset Inn and Sunset Studio in Mountain Home, Texas. He was very proud that Sunset Inn was selected as one of the top 100 Bed & Breakfasts in Texas.

In addition to his numerous services to his profession, Milton was as equally proud of his community services. He served Little League Baseball, as a District Administrator for District 11. He was President of Northwest Little League, Northwest Basketball Association and the founder and first President of the Northwest Youth Association. He served as a Director of the Northwest Kickball Association, designing the fields which still exist today at Murchison Middle School in Austin.

Milton and his wife Jane became members of Kerrville Bible Church in 2005.

We first met Milton & Jane when Milton was our inspector as we were building our home. We became friends almost right away, enjoying time together. We enjoyed many wonderful evenings having dinner and stories with Milton and Jane and then after losing Jane, many more with Milton. He was an enjoyable man and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
