Red was a person of great faith until the very end. She demonstrated that faith throughout her life through her church, family, and friends. No matter where she went, she made an impression on everyone she met. She radiated life, love, and generosity to anyone she encountered. She loved people of all walks of life, unconditionally, and they loved her as well.
She spoke with great pride about the team she and Mark represented. Together they had significant achievements and met equally significant challenges throughout their 44 years together. Rarely was one seen without the other at home, church, social gatherings, and work.
Her family was of great importance to her. She strived to communicate and keep the family together.
She will be remembered by many, to include those in the states, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Canada and all the locations she lived. She is survived by her husband, Mark; her brother, Rex, her sister-in-law, Sherell and her sister, Mary Alice; her nieces and nephews, Ryan, Kyle, Brandi, and Kendra, and numerous grand nieces and nephews, each and every one she loved dearly. Also her sister-in-law, Connie and brother-in-law, John and her nephew, Zachary.
Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM, followed by a memorial Mass at 10 AM, on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, with Father David Wagner as celebrant. A reception will follow at Hill Country Veterans Center, 411 Meadow View Lane in Kerrville.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to all those friends that assisted and cared for her during the last 3 months. They went above and beyond to help her and Mark in countless ways, at all hours of the day and night. There were no limits to their willingness to tackle any task that needed to be done. And did each one with an outpouring of love for her.

Everyone called her "Red", but she was Evie to us kids. Every year for Christmas or birthday or, occasionally, just because I received a hand written note from her. The messages were always warm, always loving, and encouraging. I looked forward to those cards...I'm going to miss those cards. I'm REALLY going to miss the notes she would send. I wish I had all of them, still. What a treasure it would be tor read those words again. She ended up extending this tradition to my kids. I'm so thankful that my children got to know her and experience the unconditional love that she had for her family. As for me and my house, the name of Evelyn Anderson will be remembered, always. It will be spoken with love and reverence. While no easy task, I think the best way to honor her would be to try to look on others the way she did. Everyone was loved, everyone was cared about. You mattered, always, to her.
She was one of the biggest blessings in my life. She built her life on the Rock. And she did not do it with arrogance, but with a quite dignity & strength that was sincere and authentic. You felt it radiating out from her. I admire her steadfastness. She reminds me of the bible verse from the book of James that says, "...Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works." That is how she lived her life. She lived her faith. It was never lip service. It was undeniable and it was beautiful.
To get a better sense of her, do yourself a favor and read from the book of Matthew, chapter 5. This is the Sermon on the Mount......or (in my words) Jesus talks about my Aunt Evie:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Poor in spirit meaning not arrogant, not brash, but those who walk humbly with the Lord.
"Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted." She mourned for the damaged relationships in our family that she could not fix.
"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." Meek, meaning one with great strength that is confidently in control.
"Blessed are those that hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." At the very end, she asked my Uncle Mark if the Lord would say she was a faithful servant.
"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy."
"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God." Nobody in my life embodied this last verse more than my Aunt. Her heart was boundless for service and those she cared for. She was a peacemaker until the very end and I'm going to miss her.

Mark,
I am so sorry to hear this news. You and Red were so kind to my family and I when we moved to Texas back in the early 90's. We'll never forget your kindness and filling the role of God Parents to our daughter Elizabeth. God has called an angel home in Red.

Dear Kendra and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss and everything you have endured these past months. I hope you will find comfort in family and close friends - and the passage of time. I stole this little prayer off the internet somewhere (but it still applies):
Grant that we may hold her memory dear,
never bitter for what we have lost
nor in regret for the past,
and always in hope of eternal life.

May Grace rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to her whole family and circle of friends. Grace was the beloved aunt of my dear friend and we have felt her benevolence, her love, and her kindness all the way in San Francsico. She always sent us special homemade cookies around the holidays. Grace truly embodied her name and she left us all too soon.

Mark and Kendra,
I am so sorry to hear about Red's passing. I feel so fortunate that I got to meet her; she was an amazingly kind person and I was appreciative to be on the receiving end of her care packages:)
In Judaism, we say "may their memory be a blessing", meaning that may their memory support, sustain, guide you after they are gone. So may Red's memory be blessing for all of you in the years to come.

Physically laid to rest, but will remain in our memories. We bought our first Catholic books in the Anderson's bookstore shortly after our conversion, round about 2006. She had a gift for being fully present to you, and that presence will be missed. Peace be with you, Mark.

I first came to know Red when she had her shop with many beautiful Christian/Catholic items. I frequented her shop and knew that I could share with her some personal stories, etc,, because she cared and was compassionate. Working at Notre Dame Church, as soon as someone would pass or was ill, she would come in for a Mass for that person; all this because she cared and was compassionate. A very beautiful soul, compassionate and caring is now in the care of Our Heavenly Father. She will be missed, but never forgotten. May God's love, peace, strength & healing be with Mark.

Was shocked and saddened to read about Red. I hadnāt seen her often over the last few years but always loved running in to her and catching up on life. She and Mark leased a commercial space from me many years ago for their Christian book store. They did a service to the community by operating this business. As we all know, she is in Godās loving arms and is at peace. Blessings, Sue Tiemann

Red was a one of a kind woman - her faith was woven into everything she was involved with. Although we left Kerrville in 2011, we would hear about the wonderful things she did for the community through mutual friends. Red will be missed by many, but we all know that our Heavenly Father has welcomed her home and wrapped her in His loving arms.
Prayers for those she left behind, but we all know that she will keep a watchful eye on us from Heaven.
