Eugene ''Gene'' Kenneth Engels, age 92, of Mountain Home, Texas, passed away March 20, 2023 in Kerrville, Texas, at Hilltop Village Nursing and Rehab.

Gene was born November 27, 1930. He married Candis K. Evans on January 19, 1985 in Arlington, Texas.

Gene attended school in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Corpus Christi High School. He attended Del Mar College, earning the Chartered Life Underwriter designation.

Gene worked on the family farm and sold life insurance after college. In the 1960s, he was employed by Occidental Life Insurance Company of N.C. as a Regional Vice President recruiting agents to sell life insurance for Occidental Life. In the 1980s, he began recruiting agents for additional life insurance companies until his passing.

Alongside his first wife, Anna Jo Adams, he helped to raise their daughter, Denise and son, Brent.

Gene was preceded in death by his son, Brent Engels of Corpus Christi, Texas; his brother, Frank George Engels of Marble Falls, Texas; his sister, Lavine Margaret Blakeslee of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandson, Nikolas Colton Evans of Arlington, Texas.

Gene is survived by his spouse, Candis K. Engels of Mountain Home, Texas; daughter, Denise Ann Sens of Horseshoe Bay, Texas and her spouse, David Alan Sens; step-son, Christopher Wood Evans of Mountain Home, Texas; granddaughter, Dee Ann Untermeyer and spouse, Ryan Untermeyer of Marble Falls, Texas; grandson, Drew Alan Sens and spouse, Grace Sens and great-granddaughter, Penelope Day Sens; grandson, Ryan Crystopher Evans and great-granddaughter, Halle Nikole Evans of Dallas; and granddaughter, Emily Christine Evans of Kerrville, Texas.
