Paul Albert Johns, Sr., 85, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on July 17, 2023 peacefully in his home. He was born in Amity, Arkansas to Waldo Johns and Hazel Johns on May 24, 1938. He married Ina Johns on November 17, 1961 in Longview, Texas.

He attended Longview High School and graduated from Kilgore Junior College. He worked at Swan Laundry in Kerrville and owned Paul's Texico also in Kerrville. Paul spent 25 years as a rural carrier with the Kerrville Post Office.

Paul loved to bowl and was a member of many bowling teams since he was 14 years old. He bowled the first perfect game in Kerrville in 1980, had the first 700 series in 1964 and the highest series of 832 in 1991. He taught his grandchildren how to bowl and loved doing that with them. He also enjoyed working in his wood shop at home making gifts for family and friends.

Paul's greatest passion was his family and friends. He loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in their activities.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Johns; his sister, Mary Madden; and his parents, Waldo Johns and Hazel Johns.

Survivors include son, Paul Johns, Jr. (Penny); daughters, Debra Lenard (Tony) and Stacie Tijerina; brother, Robert Goebert (Gail); grandchildren, Marty Lenard (Halya), Courtney Ina Lenard, Hannah Ruth McElhaney (Dennis) and Joseph Paul Johns; great-granddaughters, Madea and Emma Lenard; and Rose Ortiz, his companion of 14 years. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Garden of Memories on Thursday July 20, 2023 at 9:30 a.m.

Honorary pallbearers are Marty Lenard, Joseph Johns, Lee Underwood, Max Wade, Stan Clapper, Joe Praska, and John Rolfe.

In lieu of flowers, you can honor Paul's memory by a donation to a youth church camp or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Peterson Hospice.

I just found out of Mr John’s passing. My Mom worked at Swan Laundry many, many years ago. After it closed down, she would still see Paul in town and always remembered the good times at the laundry.
To Paul Jr. I am so sorry and miss seeing you n Penny. May God continue to comfort y’all.

As a teenager Emilio Valdez and I use to blowdown (clean) the Swan Laundry on weekends, and during the summer my cousin Arthur De La Cruz and I use to take orders for the lady laundry employees and go the Pampel's to buy their orders in time for them to take their breaks. I would see Paul, he was always busy in the laundry.
May God embrace Paul lovingly in eternal life and bring peace and comfort to family and friends. RIP Paul
