Hesta Fay Harrison, 87, of Barksdale and Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023 in Kerrville, Texas. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas on May 28, 1936 and was adopted shortly afterwards by Bonnie and Evelyn Cowan. She attended Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, Texas, graduating in May 1953.

Hesta attended Henderson College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She returned to Corpus Christi and married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Harrison, on June 22, 1956. Through the years, Hesta and Wayne lived in Bay City, Friendswood, Kingsville, and Lewisville, Texas. During these years, Hesta sometimes worked as a secretary at the schools attended by their children. After Wayne retired, he and Hesta bought a ranch outside Barksdale, Texas and moved there in 1985.

Despite her children's concerns about how she would adapt to rural life on the ranch, Hesta thrived. She enjoyed feeding and watching the wildlife, playing bridge, listening to country music, and hosting family and friends at the ranch.

Hesta was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Billy Ross Cowan; her husband, Wayne; and her son, Derek Harrison.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Smith and her husband Kent; and granddaughters, Paige and Ally Smith; as well as her sister-in-law, Laura Cowan; niece, Sarah Cowan; and nephew, Matthew Cowan.

Hesta will be buried at Seaside Memorial Park cemetery in Corpus Christi, and a celebration of life service for both her and Wayne will be held in the Spring of 2024 in Kerrville.
