John E. Winslow passed into the arms of his Lord on Oct. 23, 2023 at Kendall House in Boerne, TX. He was born December 18, 1937 to John, Sr. and Dorothy Winslow in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended the original Texas Military Institute for Boys and graduated from San Benito High School in 1955. College included Texas A&I and Texas Western.
John opened his first Western Auto Store in Weslaco at the age of 24 in 1961. In 1962, he remodeled and moved into the Ritz Theater, which he owned for 43 years. Along the way, he added a Radio Shack and Winslow Enterprises Carpet Sales. He was always known as a man of his word. He retired in 2005 and moved to Kerrville with his wife, Helen.
John had a great love for his antique cars, boat, and model railroad, which he loved sharing with his 2 grandsons, Rody O'Neal and Brandon Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Winslow; brother, Mark; and sister, Priscilla.
John is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Bicky O'Neal, Debbie Winslow, Kathy Porter (Scott); son, Kelly Miller (Iris); 4 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco at a later date.

To my dearest brother-in-law who was so kind and smart and was the best
joke teller in the world. He welcomed me with open arms and really had
a handle on the world around us.
He has just joined his brother, Mark , who passed last October.
