Retired Major Grover C. ''Davy'' Crocker, of Kerrville, passed away November 25, 2023 in Kerrville at the VA Hospital. He was born in Pampa, TX to G.C. Crocker Sr. and Rozena (Reid) Crocker on June 30, 1927.

He went to school in Pampa, TX. Davy worked in the oil fields and family farm when he was younger. He also graduated from Texas Tech University.

Davy served 4 years in the US Navy. When he came home from the Navy, he decided to re-enlist in the US Air Force, where he fought in both WWII and the Korean War. He was a fighter pilot in the Korean war, flying the P51 Mustang and the F86. He was shot down behind enemy lines and sustained a broken back, but was back to flying within 6 months of being injured. When he retired from the Air Force, he continued with his love of flying and went to work for the FAA and also teaching others how to fly. He spent his free time on the golf course with his wife, always trying to better his golf game.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters; his beautiful wife, Joanne Crocker; step-son, Kenneth Pierce; daughter-in-law, Donna Pierce; and his great-great-granddaughter, Alani.

He is survived by his two step-sons, Ralph Pierce and Michael Pierce (wife Dianne); his grandchildren, Krista Brown (husband Rick), Melissa Pierce, Jennifer Pierce, and Travis Pierce (wife Esther); great-grandchildren, Kendall (wife Cynthia), Kaleigh (fiancé Robbie), Keegan (fiancé Elijah), Rylie, Milla, Paris, Travis and Abigail; and great-great-granddaughter, Marie.

There will be no services, as that was his wish.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Kerrville VA Hospital for taking care of our Pepaw and loving him as their own.

I have known Davy for 20+ years and flown with him many times. Fine aviator and a patriotic American.
