Charles Raymond Stevens passed away November 24, 2023 at the age of eighty-nine. He was born on February 15, 1934 in Camp Verde, Texas where he grew up on the family's ranch with his parents and seven siblings.

Charles married Delores Rouse in 1959. He served in the Air Force for twenty years and continued his service at the VA in Kerrville, Texas as a civilian. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church of Center Point, taught Bible study classes and loved singing in the church choir. Charles resided at River Point Assisted Living for the last four years of his life, keeping the aides on their toes with his dry sense of humor. He also enjoyed attending the weekly social hour reading poems he had written with his juke box in tow so that everyone could dance to his music. Even though he used a walker, when the music started, he could dance freely with anyone willing to join him.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; brothers, Roy Stevens Jr., Stanley Stevens; and his sister, Mildred Stevens.

He is survived by his siblings, Mamie Keith (James), Johnny Stevens, Chester Stevens (Kathy) of Camp Verde, Texas and Marianne Leos (Carlos) of San Antonio, Texas; and his children, Brian Stevens (Kathy) of Kerrville, Texas and Mark Stevens of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by grandchildren, Brent, Brandy and Scott Stevens, all from Kerrville, Aaron Bohnert (Annie) from San Antonio and Ryan Bohnert (Lisa) of Comfort, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Mason and Morgan Bohnert of Comfort, Texas, Wyatt and Tristin Hale of Kerrville, Texas and Jake, Jackson and Cy Backlund of San Antonio, Texas; and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Southern Oaks Church on Sunday, December 3rd at 3:00 pm with a reception following the service.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kerrville VA Hospital Memorial Fund, 3600 Memorial Blvd., Kerrville, TX 78028.

A gentle-man, in every sense of the word. Only knew him a short time at the Center Point church, but couldn’t help but falling in love with him.
I will miss you, and
“As always, holding you tightly in our thoughts and prayers” .
