Douglas Dale Hannemann, 70, went to walk with Jesus on December 16th, 2023 in Kerrville, Texas. He was born on March 19, 1953, to Freddie and Peggy Anne Hannemann.

Doug was a proud member of the Tivy High School Class of 1972. He was one of the first Special Education Students to earn his high school diploma through the Special Education Program. Doug had numerous maintenance jobs, but his favorite job was ringing the bell for Salvation Army. He was involved in the Special Opportunity Center, 4H, Horse Club, a bowling league, Special Olympics, Kroc Center, and Salvation Army. He grew up in Zion Lutheran Church in Kerrville and attended as an adult. In recent years, he attended the Salvation Army Church, and was proud with being an honorary Captain.

Doug was an exceptional and special man who had a deep love for God, an unwavering commitment to spreading kindness and joy, and a remarkable ability to see the good in life no matter his circumstances. Doug always gave a blessing of ''Jesus Loves You'' or ''God Bless You'' to anyone and everyone he encountered.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Peggy Anne Hannemann.

Doug is survived by his brother, Ted Hannemann and wife Leslie; sister, CeCe Jean Saunders and husband Billy Saunders; nieces and nephews, Teddy Jr., Mary Anne, Ronald, Jean, Lea Anne, Clint, Britny, Sterling, Cheyanne, Trenton, Willow, Letechia, Makayla, Janice, Lonnie; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10 AM Thursday, December 21, 2023 through 7 PM, Friday, December 22, 2023, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.

There will be a private burial for the family. A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 27th at 2:00 PM at Grimes Funeral Chapels. The family asks that you wear blue and gold to honor his pride for TFND.
Memorials may be given to Salvation Army.

The family of Doug Hannemann wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Jim Rohrbaugh, his best friend and caretaker for over 23 years, Dr. Linette B. Melcher, and the Tivy High School Class of 1972.

I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He had the most amazing smile, gentle heart, and fun sense of humor. I was blessed to work for Doug for a couple years, prior to Covid, and looked forward to our meetings.

I know family meant the world to him, and I want to say thank you for allowing me to be a part of his world, for even a short amount of time.
