Norman ''Buddy'' Pape, 91, of Mountain Home, passed away on January 1, 2024, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville. He was born in Harper, Texas to Mamie and Gilbert ''Gilly'' Pape on February 8, 1932. He married Reba May Randle on August 10, 1957, in Junction, Texas.

Buddy went to school at Harper School in Harper, Texas where he graduated high school early at 16 years old. He worked with livestock, breaking and shoeing horses, and as an all-around Cowboy and Ranch Foreman most of his life. He was a Veteran and saw the front lines of battle in the Korean War, serving in the US Army. Buddy served on the Leakey School Board for about 10 years and was also very involved with the Real County Junior Horse Club and Steer Roping Club over many years.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Mamie and Gilly; brother, Raymond Pape and his wife Brinda.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Pape; daughter, Carolyn Pape Pipes and husband Rusty; his son, Cody Pape and friend Elaine Flinchum; nephews, Marty Pape and wife Darla and family and Duane Pape and family.

Visitation will be at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville on Friday January 5, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday January 6, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with Pastor Keith Shelley officiating. Burial will follow at Harper Cemetery in Harper, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Tom Pickens, Michael Manning, Mark Hurt, Solomon Hurt, Newell Stewart and Tom Martin.

Memorials may be given to our area EMS services, local area horse club organizations, or the Kerrville Church of Christ.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to River Hills Health and Rehab, Peterson Regional Medical Center, Grimes Funeral Chapels, and the awesome numbers of family and friends of the Pape Family. Every prayer has been truly appreciated.

So sorry for your loss ! Buddy was one of the finest men I have known. Always willing to help others.
He was a true Cowboy and one of the best team ropers around. He never had a bad thing to say about anyone. What a legacy he has. He will be missed by many . May our Lord give you peace and understanding in this hard time.
