She was predeceased by her husband, Marvin Kneese; and her beloved grandson, Scott; as well as her three siblings, Harvey, Theresa and Margie.
She is survived by her three sons, Philip and spouse Nancy Kneese of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, Gary and Ricky Kneese of Kerrville. Also, three granddaughters, Carey Lawson of Windsor, Connecticut, Neeley Kneese of San Antonio, and Kelsey Davis of Kerrville. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Mya and Marcus Lawson of Connecticut and Ivy Davis of Kerrville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Marietta was born in Fredericksburg, Texas to Frank and Mary Hartmann Mechler. Marietta's great-grandfather, Moritz Hartmann, born 1818 in Germany, was a founding father of Fredericksburg, Texas.
Marietta played drums in St. Mary's High School band in Fredericksburg. She later moved to Kerrville as a newlywed and housewife, starting her own family of three boys. Once the boys had children of their own, Marietta became known as "Nama" by her grandchildren. She was the babysitter for them through their formative years.
Marietta enjoyed making their clothes and various other crafts. In her later years, she resided at Hilltop Nursing Home. The family is very thankful for the care she received there. We are also grateful for the assistance of the Embrace Hospice team in her final days.
Donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Marietta touched all our lives in so many ways and she will be deeply missed. Rest now Nama, we love you.
