Gayle Bingham, age 87, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on May 24, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Katherine and Larry Marshall.

She graduated from Mount St. Scholastica (now Benedictine) College in Atchison, Kansas and briefly was an elementary school teacher. She married Wendell Bingham on June 10, 1964, in San Antonio, Texas immediately after Wendell completed USAF Officer Training School and was assigned to Yokota AB, Japan. Gayle soon joined Wendell in Japan and thoroughly enjoyed Japan and its people. Wendell was later transferred to Hawaii; San Antonio, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri; Montgomery, Alabama; and finally, to the Pentagon in Washington, DC. Gayle enjoyed these frequent moves. It was in Washington, DC that she was first introduced to loom weaving. Weaving became a passion for Gayle. Although she was mostly self-taught, she became an accomplished weaver with many of her finished works shown in national exhibits.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Marshall and mother, Katherine Marshall.

Survivors include husband, Wendell Bingham, and daughter, Joan Dickerson.

Graveside services will be held at 2:15pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Raphael Community Free Clinic, 1807 Water Street, Kerrville, TX 78028.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses, and support staff at University Hospital, San Antonio for their compassionate care.
