Tonni Collette Burns passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024, after a courageous battle with Lymphoma.

Tonni was a native of Baton Rouge, and was a resident of Mountain View, TX and Camp Verde, TX.

She attended University High School in Baton Rouge, graduated from Louisiana State University, and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of the Junior League of Baton Rouge. Tonni was an excellent second grade teacher, homemaker, nurse and above all, a loving, caring friend.

She was predeceased by her husband, Daniel Joseph Burns; her parents, Mary Charlotte Thonssen Collette and Lloyd Franklin Collette; and her brother-in-law, Charles Wilson Burns Jr.

Tonni is survived by her sister, Mary Kay Collette Brown (Terrell); her sister-in-law, Nancy Cecilia Burns; and brother-in-law, Jacob Traber Burns and his son, Traber Burns. Tonni is also survived by Mary Kay's children, Anne Collette Brown Bruce (Anthony), John Terrell Brown Jr. (Kate), and Lloyd Andrew Brown (Caffery); nine great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nephews.

She loved living in the Hill Country of Texas for over 25 years. Tonni's home was surrounded by over a hundred acres of magnificent views that she enjoyed until the end of her life. She loved observing and feeding all her favorite wildlife.

The family greatly appreciates the love and caring of Reynaldo and Juan Escajeda and their families, and Barbara Bryant and her daughters. The family thanks the doctors and staff at Kerrville Texas Oncology and OpusCare for their empathy and support.

Tonni will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Tonni was a very lovely lady I never had the pleasure of meeting in person. My nephew Paul, was responsible for keeping her lawn beautiful at her home in Baton Rouge.
We would email often and occasionally get to talk.
I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all her family in
this time of sorrow.
God Bless.

Tonni loved her family dearly and shared photos of her nieces babies with me. I’m a nurse at one of her doctors’ offices. She was so kind and gentle. May God bless her and give everlasting life.

Oh Tonni, how thankful I am for the gift of your friendship. How we shared a boundless love for animals and the beauty of nature. Your generosity to me, those wonderful Christmas chocolates, a good country song, and some deep private confidences will always be a special memory for me. You were a true Valentine to the world and to me. God speed, dear friend.
