Betty I. Hamilton Russell, of San Antonio, passed away on June 4, 2024 in Kerrville, TX. She was born in Barren County, KY to Samuel and Irene Hamilton on May 10, 1939. She married her high school sweetheart, Carl Russell, and shortly after he joined the Air Force, they moved to San Antonio. They had two daughters, Jackie and Lisa.
Betty was a homemaker and mother and once her daughters were in middle school, she entered the work force. She was an Administrative Assistant with Spears Personnel Service and then with the University of Texas Health Science Center of San Antonio. She retired as the Assistant to the Chair of Micro Biology at UTHSCSA.
Betty also was an avid crafter and sewing and ceramics kept her busy. She loved traveling and visited many of the U.S. National Parks and cities. She enjoyed being hostess to the many family dinners and events.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, William Hamilton.
Survivors include daughters, Jackie and husband Jeffrey Markgraf and Lisa Russell; two grandchildren, Jared and Jessica Markgraf; and two great-grandchildren, Jordyn Joy and Graeme Markgraf; nieces, Lori Polson and Connie Lykins; nephews, Thomas Polson and Joseph Polson.
A graveside service and burial will be held on June 13th by Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, KY in Happy Valley Memorial Park at 11:00am.

I went to grade school with Betty at a little one room school called Mt Ayr in Barren Co, Ky. We were friends all growing up & her parents were friends with my parents from way back. They were a fine family. Sorry about her passing.
