Howard Neal Collins, born Aug. 15, 1937, passed away at his home in Kerrville July 6, 2024, after a brief illness. Howard was born and grew up in Lubbock, graduated from Lubbock High School, graduated from Texas Tech and began his career in banking at American State Bank.

He married his high school sweetheart, Roma Caviness, in 1958, was married 67 years and had two daughters, Carrie and Polly. Their journey led them to Waco, Ft. Worth, Miami and ultimately to Kerrville in 1973.

Howard derived joy from nurturing or helping others whether it be family, friends or strangers. He had a quick wit and dry sense of humor.

We rejoice and are comforted knowing Howard is home with our Lord and Savior and he
leaves us with a lifetime of beautiful memories that will sustain us until we are reunited.

Howard was preceded in death by his daughter, Polly Collins; twin brother, James Collins; sister in-law, Ann Collins; and brother in-law, Don Douglass.

Howard is survived by his wife, Roma; daughter, Carrie Collins; sister, Carol Douglass; niece, Cathryn; nephews, Trigg, Brent, Clark, Greg, Neal; and many cousins and friends who loved and appreciated Howard's kindness, thoughtfulness and terrific sense of humor.

We wish to thank Alamo Hospice, Dr. Grocki, Kish, Juanita and Dr. De Los Santos for their compassionate care.

As per Howard's request, no service is planned and his ashes will be spread with his daughter Polly who preceded him in death.

Dear Roma and Carrie,
I am praying for your family during this difficult time. I have a deep appreciation and great respect for the man of integrity that Howard was. I will never forget his kindness towards my family, or his encouragement to my father during a difficult time. Howard’s knew what it meant to be a friend. Howard was kind and genuine. I know that he touched many lives. I pray that in the days ahead, you will. Be encouraged as you hear stories of Howard.
Blessings!

Roma and Carrie, I am so sorry to see this news about Howard. Howard was such a gentle soul. He was a good friend to Stephen and me. Howard was a bright light in the world that we live in. May your memories of your husband and father be with you for all of your days ahead. The last time I saw Howard was at Stephen's memorial service. I'm happy that I got a hug from him that day.

Uncle Howard's memory will always be with me everything I set the family wall clock he bestowed to my care and every time I fire up the grill as I am reminded of the cookouts in Fort Worth in the 1960's.
