Lois June Anderson Wielders, born June 1, 1935, passed peacefully on August 2, 2024, in a nursing home in Fredericksburg, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry John Wielders, Jr.; parents, Emiline ''June'' Eustance Anderson and Francis ''Dick'' Doran Anderson; brother, Doran ''Dee'' Anderson, sister-in-law, Valeria Peterson Anderson; mother-in-law, Marie Bernadette Grondel Wielders and father-in-law, Henry John Wielders, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Wielders Cassity, husband Gus; her son, Christopher Wielders, wife, Maria; granddaughter, Avery Wielders, Avery's mother, Kathy Randle, granddaughter, Samantha Hogenson Higgins, Samantha's mother, Joann Hogenson, granddaughter, Emily Cassity Lankford, husband, Brad; great grandchildren Haley, Braden, Addi and Ella Lankford; granddaughter, Sarah Topete, husband, Alex; great grandchildren, Lucy and Benny Topete; granddaughter, Olivia Mollet, husband, Steve; great granddaughters, Lennon and Olivia Mollet; grandson, Sam Montoya; niece, Candy Anderson Bakken, husband Barry; nephew, Doug Anderson, husband Craig Reisch; and niece DeeAnn Anderson Parks, husband, Jason. She is also survived by several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Lois was born and raised in Murray, Utah. She attended Granite High School for three years, then left on an adventure to live with a good friend in San Diego, California, whose husband was away in the Navy. She would later get her GED in Houston, Texas. During shore leave, her friend's husband brought home some sailor friends. One of them was her future husband, ''Hank.'' They later met again in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Lois was working for Auerbach's Department Store. Hank approached her counter and asked her out for New Year's Eve. Three dates later, they eloped to Las Vegas, Nevada. It was meant to be. Lois lived, and raised her children with Hank, in Concord, California for many years. The family later moved back to Sandy, Utah in 1980. Lois worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Utah in Data Entry from 1980 until her retirement in June of 1996. She made many good, lifelong friends at BCBS. She and Hank retired to Florence, Oregon, to enjoy the nearby ocean until 2004, when they would move to Texas to be near their daughter and her family.
Lois' greatest joy was her family. She taught her children kindness towards others and shared with them her love of animals. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts and knitted the entire family slippers many times over, crocheted afghans, sewed school clothes and doll outfits, created crewel and needlepoint pictures, painted pottery - she could do it all. She instilled in her husband and children her legendary love of spooky movies, and celebrated EVERY holiday with fun and enthusiasm. She loved to read and encouraged her children to enjoy books too. She proudly attended every play, Christmas pageant, soccer and baseball game, dance recital, Cub Scout event and graduation with Hank by her side.
There will be a Celebration of Life, date pending, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for family, and another Celebration of Life, date pending, in Salt Lake City, Utah, for friends and family.
The family of Lois Wielders would like to thank the dedicated and caring staff of Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab for their kindness and compassion, and for the care given to Lois during her time with them.
Lois Wielders will be interred at the Murray City Cemetery, 5490 S. Vine Street, Murray, Utah, 84107.
