Arrie Dee Smith, age 70, a lifelong resident of Freer, TX, passed to a better life on September 2, 2024, from complications of Parkinson's Disease. Named after his grandfather, Arrie, but affectionately called Dee, he was a resident of Windsor Nursing Center in San Diego, TX since 2021.
Dee was born at Freer Hospital on November 9, 1953, the second son of Freer residents, W.E. ''Bill'' and Betty Corbin Smith. He graduated from Freer High School in 1974. After graduation, Dee prepared pad sites and access roads for oil and gas production in Duval and neighboring counties. In his later years, Dee worked alongside his brother, Don Smith, in a lawn care business. When he wasn't working, Dee enjoyed gardening.
Dee's parents and brother preceded him in death. He is and will continue to be fondly remembered by his cousins, Donna Smith Appelt, Ben Smith, Janis Smith Dean, Earnest A. Hamilton Jr., Nancy Corbin Deviney, Debbie Corbin Eddy, Scott Corbin, and David Corbin.
A faithful member of First Baptist Church, Freer, TX, Dee was delighted to share the fact that he had accepted Jesus as Savior.
In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church, 515 Laredo St., Freer, TX 78357.
Graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11 AM a.m. at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, TX, with Pastor Daryl Hall officiating.
