Glenda Cobb Evans, age 87, beloved Mother and Gran, went to be with the Lord on October 3, 2024. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024, 1:00 P.M. at Grimes Funeral Chapels, Kerrville, with lifelong friend and Pastor David Billeiter officiating. Glenda was born December 10, 1936, in Ingram, Texas, to parents Robert Leslie Cobb and Helen Horn Cobb. As the first grandchild of Fred and Edna Horn, of Hunt, Texas, Glenda's early memories included swimming at Schumacher Crossing, services at Hunt Baptist Church, and watching grandfather Fred build cedar furniture for summer camps in the Hill Country.

In May of 1956, Glenda married the love of her life Roy Chester Evans, Jr., at Highland Lutheran Church, San Antonio, Texas. During their 35 years of marriage, Glenda and Roy modeled strength, goodness, and love for their four children whom they raised in central and south Texas. In 1979, they returned to the Hill Country where they owned Royal Service Appliance and partnered with family in The Chosen Spot Lodges.

Glenda's love for Jesus and for people was evident throughout her life. In the Hill Country, she ministered in Women's Aglow Fellowship; led worship for area churches; and cooked and served alongside her daughter Tara who founded Kerrville's ''Thanks for Truckers.'' During the 1980's, Glenda and Roy hosted Bible studies and prayer meetings, in addition to traveling to Piedras Negras, Mexico, where they shared the Gospel while providing food and clothing to families. Glenda was a gifted mentor to children and adults, whether reading with a young child, ministering to women in jail, or offering a room in her home for friends going through difficult times.

When it came to cooking and music, Glenda's home was a haven for family and friends who gathered around her table for some real home-cooking and around her piano for some real music afterwards. Her hand-rolled enchiladas and beans were second-to-none; and she could ''play the keys off'' her piano - everything from ''Build My Mansion Next Door to Jesus'' to ''Stardust,'' and even ''Beer Barrel Polka'' on her accordion.

Family and friends will remember Glenda's love for her family, generous nature, and faith in Jesus Christ…a faith that comforts us in our sorrow, reminding us that we will meet her again in Heaven. She is preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Evans, Jr., daughter Tara Hernandez, and grandson Jordan Hernandez.

Glenda is survived by children Darby MacKaron and husband Philip, Marla Shurn, Dana Evans and wife Kimberli, and son-in-law Abel Hernandez; grandchildren Nicholas MacKaron and wife Jennifer, Amanda Balson and husband Troy, Russell MacKaron and wife Lindsey, Byron Shurn and wife Kristi, Rebekah Evans, Roy C. Evans, III and wife Veronica, Evan Hernandez; and 16 great-grandchildren who love their Gran.

In lieu of flowers and in recognition of the support and friendship Glenda received from the Dietert Center ''Meals on Wheels'' program and its volunteers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: Dietert Center Meals on Wheels, 451 Guadalupe St., Kerrville, Texas, 78028. www.dietertcenter.org
