Cheryl Elaine Venghaus, 77, of Kerrville, passed away on November 18, 2024, in Kerrville. She was born in Houston, Texas to James Edward Thompson Jr. and Grace Florence Thompson on March 23, 1947. She married Edwin ''Ed'' J. Venghaus on September 2, 1972, in Houston, Texas.
She went to high school at Spring Woods High School in Houston, Texas. She worked for Texas Commerce Bank in Houston for six years before moving to Kerrville. She then worked for a family practice physician before starting a career in the insurance department at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, where she stayed until she retired. Cheryl was also a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Thompson and multiple aunts, uncles and cousins.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Ed Venghaus; her brother Kenneth Thompson and wife Cathy; brother-in-law, Harvey Venghaus and wife Linda; brother-in-law, Dennis Venghaus and wife Phyllis; sister-in-law, Delores Bittner and husband Johnny; sister-in-law, Kathy Bittner and husband Sylvester. Cheryl also has many nieces and nephews including Timothy Thompson, Michelle Clemens, Nicholas Venghaus, Claire Venghaus, Dennis Venghaus Jr., Brad Venghaus, Adam Venghaus, Ryan Bittner, Angela Bittner and Kevin Bittner.
Visitation will be 4-6 pm, Friday, November 22, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with Rev. Frankie Enloe officiating. Burial will follow at Center Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Thompson, Richie Clemens, Harvey Venghaus and Dennis Venghaus.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Grocki, Dr. James Young, Peterson Hospice and New Haven Memory Care Facility.
