Audrey was a woman of extraordinary strength and creativity, who devoted 62 wonderful years of her life to her high school sweetheart, Robert Zumwalt, who preceded her in death in 2018.
Audrey was also preceded by her parents, Claude James Smith and Delphia Baughier Smith; her four brothers, George Franklin (GF), Raymond, Winfred and Claude Jr.; her two sisters, Emma Gene and Joy; and grandson, Charles Patrick Wilson.
She leaves behind her children: her son, Mike Zumwalt, his son Zach and wife Darby, and great-grandson Calder; her daughter, Kathie and husband Scott Wilson, their children, Scott Jr., Derrick, Julie and Justin, and their wives Jennifer and Daisy, great-grandkids, Cayden, Brandon, Jerry, Winter, Summer, Cori and Perry; plus, many nieces and nephews.
Audrey wasn't just a partner; she was a creator, a restorer and a dreamer. Audrey had an incredible gift for seeing beauty where others might overlook it. In her hands, worn-out furniture and forgotten knick-knacks transformed into stunning pieces of art, reflective of her spirit. Whether it was rebuilding old treasures or crafting new décor, Audrey found joy bringing things back to life.
Her home was not just a house, it was a sanctuary filled with the warmth of her craftmanship and the love she poured into every piece. Each corner told a story, each item a testament to her eye for beauty and boundless creativity.
Though we will miss her dearly, let us carry forward her love, creativity and the warmth she shared with all of us. May we honor her memory by embracing life with the same passion and appreciation for beauty that she always did.
Services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Pastor Joey Tombrella will preside the services. She will be laid to rest at Nichols Cemetery, Ingram, Texas, beside her lifelong best friend, Robert.

Mike,
I am so sorry to hear of Miss Audrey's passing. Though my memories of her are just small moments of casual encounters, she had a presence of confident kindness which always drew my attention. From the garage sales in The Woods, when she was on the hunt for Fisher-Price toys, to the children's books she gifted through (then) Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, and later her days at Juniper Village, Audrey touched my life in so many ways. She left a lasting impression on me.
I hope you find comfort in the memories of your mom that will continue to live on through you and your family.
Thinking of you all during this difficult time.
