John Edward Brantley, 91, of Kerrville, Texas, was called to his Lord and Savior on December 19, 2024.
He was born in McAlester, Oklahoma, on June 25, 1933, to James and Nora Brantley. He married the love of his life, Maxine, on June 15, 1952, in McAlester, Oklahoma. They were married for 72 years.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1948, where he was deployed to Korea. He served for three years. After five years of civilian life, he re-enlisted in the US Air Force, where he served for seventeen years, being deployed to the Vietnam War and many assigned duty stations which included, Germany, France, North Africa, California and Texas. After retirement from the military, John worked as an electrician for Hallmark Electric Company for more than a decade. John and Maxine moved to Kerrville in 1996 to enjoy the remainder of their retirement.
He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, in Kerrville, Texas.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Nora Brantley; his brother, William; and his sister, Onie Pelley.
Survivors include wife, Maxine; children, Hersel and wife France, Sharon and husband Michael Keith, and Janet and husband Mark Nelson; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4-5 pm Sunday December 29, 2024, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 am Monday December 30, 2024, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 3250 Fredericksburg Rd., Kerrville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you donate to the charity of one's choice.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Kerrville EMS and the Peterson Health Emergency department.
