Ruth Emma Spradling, 92, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 15, 2025. She was born September 2, 1932, in La Porte, TX to G.W and Ruth Hershberger Shireman. She married Jimmie Ray Spradling on November 25, 1953, and was an Engineering Secretary at Rohm and Haas for 37 years.

Jimmie and Ruth left La Porte and moved to Kerrville in 1992. After the move, they found a church home at Trinity Baptist Church and became active in the community. They also started traveling, something they both enjoyed. They traveled to the Orient, Africa, Israel and Europe, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Iceland and many places in the U.S. Ruth also served for many years as a leader of worship in local nursing homes and made regular visits to friends and church members there. She was devoted to being the hands and feet of Jesus and showed His love to countless people in the community. She also enjoyed attending city council meetings with her husband and served on the Planning and Zoning Committee. Ruth was always invested in making and keeping Kerrville a beautiful town.

In addition to serving others in the community, she was also a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was truly her passion, and she never missed a chance to be involved. She was the true picture of a matriarch and will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Jody Smitherman of Kerrville, granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Matney and Max McRuiz of Diana, Texas and two great-grandsons, Hudson and Mason McRuiz. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jimmie Ray Spradling.

We will miss you greatly but will see you one day soon in Heaven. ''Well done my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord'' Mathew 25:23

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Riverside and the angels of Embrace Hospice for the impeccable care, devotion, and support they provided.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church on March 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor John Wheat officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Ruth's favorite volunteer service (Kerr Konnect) which helped her so much.

We live on Foothills and are so very saddened to hear of Ruth’s passing away. I had just seen her outside with her hat on about 3 weeks ago. She was always concerned if she heard of anything going on with the neighbors. She will be missed. Praying for y’all’s family as you go through this difficult time.
