She attended Milby High School in Houston, Texas and later achieved something truly remarkable - earning her associate's degree from Schreiner University while balancing the demands of two full-time jobs and raising her young child. During this time, she lived with her parents, Delmar and Inez Burris, not only to provide a loving and supportive environment for her son but also to be a constant source of help and care for them. Her perseverance and unwavering determination were a testament to her incredible work ethic and deep love for her family. Joyce went on to build a successful nursing career spanning more than a decade, where her compassion and dedication touched countless lives.
Joyce was preceded in death by one of the most cherished people in her life, her father, Delmar Burris. Their relationship was one of deep love and admiration, and she often spoke of the comfort and joy he brought to her life. It brings peace to know she has gone home to be with him once again.
Joyce is survived by her loving family, including her son, Jonathan Burris and his spouse Megan Burris; her sister, Emma Burris; her partner Jim Miller; her brothers Morris Burris and Les Burris, and Les's spouse Lisa Burris; her mother Inez Burris; her grandchildren Tyler Burris and Laney Burris; and her nieces and nephews, Parisa Dehkordi, Josh Dehkordi, Kayden Burris, and Ashley Burris.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 15th, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Greater Hope Church.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 15th at 2:00pm at Greater Hope Church with Brother Tim DeLano officiating. The burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The Pallbearers will be Jonathan Burris, Morris Burris, Les Burris, Josh Dehkordi, Parisa Dehkordi, and Joe Gumbert.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family's GoFundMe page to assist with funeral expenses. Your kindness and support during this difficult time are deeply appreciated: Fundraiser by Lesley Burris : Help the Burris Family Honor Joyce's Memory
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate hospice care nurses, Julie and Rebecca, who cared for Joyce's mother with such kindness and dedication, while also offering unwavering love and support to Joyce during those difficult days. They would also like to thank their cherished Greater Hope Church family and Pastor Brother Tim DeLano, whose guidance and encouragement deeply enriched Joyce's relationship with her Lord and Savior.

I had the privilege of working with Joyce @ Peterson Home Healthcare. She was an excellent nurse who treated the patients as if they were her family. She will be truly missed. I will keep the family in my prayers.
