Debera K. George, 68, of Kerrville, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

She was born February 23, 1957, in Maryville, Missouri and was raised there. She graduated from Maryville High School in 1975 and graduated in 2011 from Texas Tech University in Fredericksburg, Texas; she always wanted to be a teacher.

Debera married Carlan George in Kerrville, Texas in 1980. She had one son, Joseph. Her passion was caring for animals, baking, cooking, quilting, camping, and being with her friends and family. She wanted everyone to know how important they were in her life. Debera was famous for making cookie trays and delivering them around Christmas time.

Debera is survived by her son, Joseph, and half-sister, June. Her husband, parents, half-brothers, and brother preceded her in death.

Services will be held at a later date.

The family asks for donations to be made to the American Diabetes and Heart Associations.

Debera was my first friend at Nimitz Elementary. I was hired as special education aide. I hit the ground running, not even knowing the direction I was going. I didn’t know a soul, wasn’t familiar with the building and was quite shy. I was thrown into situations without any training or help, until Debera. She took the time mo one else seemed to have to show me the ropes. Not only did she make my job easier, she was fiercely protective of me. She became my advocate and faithful friend.
I am grateful for her faithful friendship over the past thirty-three years.
She was a wonderful wife to Carlan and a devoted mother to Joe.
Well done good and faithful servant.
