Gene's example as a follower of Christ, husband to Sue for 70 years and father to four sons, was a standard he felt blessed to show to all he encountered and which he prayed all would accept. Gene was a gift from God as an example of how to live a life in Christ.
Born on June 2, 1929, in Beaumont, Texas, Gene was the oldest of three boys of his beloved parents Loven, Sr. and Jewel Blanton. Gene graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas, where he met his childhood sweetheart and wife of 70 years, Sue Boyd. Gene and Sue were married and began a life together filled with love, joy, and an appreciation for how God had blessed them more than they could have ever hoped for.
Gene attended Texas A&M University and was a life-long Aggie. Always committed to the will of God, Gene was led to transfer from A&M to the University of Corpus Christi and Southwest Texas State to earn a degree in Sociology and Education, which he used to change our world for the better through education.
In 1960, Gene, Sue and four boys moved to Kerrville and immediately became involved in the Hill Country community. The family soon joined Trinity Baptist Church, where Gene remained a loyal member for 65 years, until he passed from this world. Gene served as the principal of Tivy High School until 1977, when he assumed a position as superintendent. Gene also taught at Schreiner University. The Senior Games became one of Gene's passions, along with continual service to God through Trinity Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir, served as a deacon, and taught Sunday School and bible studies. He was an active member of his Sunday School class and was a fixture in worship.
Gene ran the race for Christ well and faithfully all the way to the finish line. He is joyfully in the presence of his Savior; wife Sue; third son, Daryl; parents and countless family members and friends. His influence on those who remain will last an eternity. Gene is survived by his oldest son, Ron, and wife Kathleen Blanton and family; second son, Jim, and wife Stacey and family; last son, Bill, and wife Mette and family, and Daryl's wife, Carole Blanton, and family. Gene also loved and enjoyed his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gene is also survived by more friends than can be easily counted.
A memorial service to celebrate Gene's life will be held at Trinity Baptist Church-Kerrville on August 9, 2025, at 1pm, followed by a reception at the church.

I am so sorry to read of Mr Blanton's passing--was a wonderful man. I can only imagine the wonderful memories his family carries with them. He hired my mom back in the 1960's--it was her first job out of college--due to our family business (Moss Motors) we were able to keep in touch with him up until a couple of years ago. Mr Blanton was such a kind gentleman....rest easy--"you did truly did fight the good fight".

I’m so sorry for your loss. Mr. Blanton was a wonderful person who I remember so well from my years at Trinity. Also, he was my mom’s principal at TIVY and later hired her for a job at KISD. He truly made this world a better place. My deepest condolences to the family.

The news of Mr. B's passing has left us deeply saddened. He exemplified the qualities of a fine Christian gentleman, and his absence will be profoundly felt. Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill, Ronnie, Jimmy, and their families during this difficult time. Yet, there is solace in knowing that Mr. B has reunited with Mrs. B, Daryl, and cherished friends like my parents and father-in-law, Ronnie Cooper. May the Blanton family find peace and comfort in the love and memories shared.
