Sidney Ray Wiese, 72, of Medina, Texas (formerly of Waco, Texas), passed away on August 6, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Waco, Texas, to Ernest Ray and O'Levia Neil Wiese on March 21, 1953. Sid graduated from Baylor University in 1975. He worked as a teacher for over twenty-five years.
Sid was a dedicated father, son, brother, grandfather, and uncle who spent years cheering on his daughters and family members at gymnastics meets, dance recitals, drill team performances, and sporting events. Sid had a love for art and jewelry making. He was an avid reader and loved to tell a good story. He sang at church for years, and many have heard his beautiful rendition of Ave Maria at a wedding. Sid was known for his vast knowledge of random facts and for how he always put others' needs above his own.
Sid was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ray Wiese, and niece, Tiffany Alana Dodgen.
Survivors include daughter, Megan Derry and son-in-law, David Derry, daughter Summer Carlton and son-in-law, Matthew Carlton, sister, Vivian Dodgen and brother-in-law, Gary Dodgen, mother, O'Levia Neil Wiese, granddaughter Addie Derry, grandson, Will Derry, grandson, Brooks Carlton, granddaughter, Reese Carlton, and many other loving family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Medina with John Moore officiating.
