James ''Sonny'' Lester Levensailor, age 78, of Kerrville, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2025. Born on September 25, 1946, in Uvalde, Texas, James lived a life marked by service, devotion, and love for his family and community.

A proud graduate of Llano High School, Class of 1965, James went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1969. Upon returning to the Hill Country, he pursued studies in accounting at Schreiner College and embraced the joys of small-town life - playing softball, coaching Little League, and spending cherished time hunting and fishing.

James began his professional career with the Texas Comptroller's Office before dedicating 28 years to the Kerrville Police Department. He served with integrity and compassion as an officer, investigator, and detective, earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of the community he protected.

On September 25, 1982, James married the love of his life, Jacquelyn Woods Johnson. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and fellowship, serving as active members of Kerrville First United Methodist Church. Their partnership was a beautiful example of love, commitment, and shared purpose.

James is lovingly remembered by his siblings, Perky Brandenburger (Barry), Pam Parker, Pat Lyle (Jerry), and Robert Levensailor; his children, Kyle Johnson (Amy), Nicky Casey, Sheila Albright, Susan Green (Paul), and Sharon Derington; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jacque and his parents, Lester and Eunice Levensailor.

Services to be held at Kerrville First United Methodist Church (KFUMC), starting at 10:30am on Saturday, September 6, 2025. KFUMC is located at 321 Thompson Drive, Kerrville, TX.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Jane and Jennifer of Embrace Hospice for their compassionate and tender care during Sonny's final days.
