Louis Mark Howard, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, surrounded by his family at home.
Louis was born on April 5, 1935, in Earth, Texas. His family later moved to Bellflower, California, where he met the love of his life, Corrine Joan Mastrobuono. They were married on June 25, 1955, and shared a lifetime of love and partnership. An accomplished entrepreneur from a young age, Louis began by building campers before moving back to Texas, where he purchased and expanded a mattress company. He later founded and built a successful commercial development business, Howard Building & Leasing. Beyond his professional achievements, Louis found his greatest joy in spending time with family and friends-especially at Medina Lake. He loved skiing, boating, and playing card games, but his favorite past time was horse racing. His passion led to many memorable wins, including the 2001 Rainbow Futurity with his horse Doing Magic. Other notable horses included Love A Pie and Hooked On Cash.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, John Louis Howard and Maurine Damron Howard; his sister, Kathryn Joann Faust; his brother, Alan Bert Howard; his son, Keith Mark Howard; great-granddaughters, Angel Marie Harp, Cecilia Faye Harp, and Karla Sue Hurt.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Corrine Joan Howard; sons, Steven Louis Howard (wife Michelle Denise Howard) and Gregory Scott Howard (wife Ree Michele Howard); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Louis's caregivers-Peterson Hospice-Caring Seniors-Michelle Lee Martinez, Shelby Linney, and Danielle Ross - for their dedicated and compassionate care.
A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 13th of September, at Grimes Funeral Chapels, 728 Jefferson St. in Kerrville.
After the service, please join the family at Rails Event Center.
