Robert Kurt Keidel was born on May 29, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Robert Pfeiffer and Phyllis Elwell Keidel.
Kurt was outgoing, engaging, and humorous - the kind of person whose presence could light up any room. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War, carrying with him the values of dedication and resilience long after his military service ended. Upon returning home, Kurt continued his commitment to service by contributing his skills and strong work ethic to the Kerr County Road and Bridge Department, where he took great pride in helping to build and maintain the community he called home.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Kurt loved spending time in nature, especially when it involved hunting and fishing. He had a passion for collecting guns and tools and was always eager to share his knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm and ''pepared'' to help friends with their projects.
Kurt is survived by his son, Robert J. Keidel, and daughter-in-law, Eva L. Keidel; his siblings, Phyllis Ann Keidel Burkett, Richard Rhea Keidel and wife Lorraine, and Constance Keidel and husband Stanley Allen Mayes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darleen S. Keidel, and his parents, Robert and Phyllis Keidel.
Memorial services will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
