James ''Jim'' Maurice Raymond, 91, of Kerrville, passed away at his residence on November 25, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 15, 1934, to Maurice S. Raymond and Mabelle Louise McElvain. Jim married his wife, Donna Gail Miller Raymond, on March 16th, 1963, and they spent 62 happy years together.

Jim attended the New Mexico Military Institute, graduating from high school in 1953 and junior college in 1955. He then attended the University of Texas before serving two years in the United States Army. After his service, he completed his bachelor's degree at McMurry University in 1959.

Jim began his career in the oil and gas industry, working for Shell Oil in California during the mid-1960s. He specialized in land lease negotiations for oil drilling projects across the country. While in California, he developed a passion for off-road driving, and becoming deeply involved in the sport. Jim went on to help establish several Jeep clubs, including the ''WayWeGo's'' and ''Gully Hoopers.''

Upon returning to the family business in Texas to raise a family in the early 70s Jim became active in Rotary club and later with his sons in livestock shows and was a strong supporter of 4-H and youth competitors, helping countless young people pursue higher education. He will be remembered for his charitable work supporting local schools and the hospital, as well as the scholarship programs at his alma mater, the New Mexico Military Institute.

In his free time Jim enjoyed a passion for hunting, fishing, restoring older vehicles in his garage and family.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice S. Raymond and Mabelle Louise McElvain.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Gail Miller Raymond; his sons, James Forrest Raymond and Michael Lee Raymond; his daughter-in-law, Margaret Ann Lucid Raymond; and his granddaughters, Penelope Prudence Raymond and Willow Stormy Raymond.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2nd, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, with Fr. Bert Baetz officiating. Burial and small graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3rd, in Rule, Texas.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Donna, Michael & Jimmy. I’m truly sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. My father, Bob Valderaz worked for Jim &Donna for over 20 years. Jim included him as part of the family as he worked for Jim’s mother originally until her passing. We enjoyed Jim’s gracious passion in supporting Kerr County Stock Show and were blessed as he supported my children for success. Praying over your family for healing, hugs and love to you.

Jim was one of a kind. They broke the mold. We loved him dearly. Family was so important to him and his family loved him so. I will miss him so much. I know he is in Heaven hunting, fishing, dancing and laughing with Dave, Mom, Jim, Ruth, Mabel, and all the loved ones who have gone before him. Rest in Peace dear one. You lived a blessed life and were loved by all who knew you.
