Bruce Edmund Berryhill, 84, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on December 27, 2025, surrounded by family and dear friends. He was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Hansel and Ruth Berryhill on October 8, 1941. He married Cathy Rahn Berryhill in 1986.

Bruce graduated from Reagan High School in Houston, and from the University of Houston with an advanced degree in Architecture in 1972. He worked at CRS Sirrine Architects, then served as Planning Director for Montgomery County and as Director of Architectural and Engineering Services for the City of Houston. Bruce was also a skilled artist in pen and ink and watercolor, and a member of the Methodist church.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Hansel and Ruth Berryhill.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Cathy Rahn Berryhill, and their children Winston (Alix), Sarah (Jay), Michael (Effie), Christina (Taisir), Damon, and Sheldon (Kim). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Maddie, Beja, Bear, Austin, Michael, Leia, Izzy and Mohaned. Bruce is also survived by his foster children, Kimberly, Sara, Beauty, Steven and Robert.

Papa Bruce was a passionate birder and self-taught archaeologist. He discovered hundreds of arrowheads and artifacts, accurately identifying their era, purpose, and the ancient peoples who used them. Bruce demonstrated a strong commitment to researching the history of the planet and its diverse inhabitants.

Bruce cherished life, family, and friends. May his spirit endure through them as he rests in peace.

Funeral services for Bruce will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Chapels at 728 Jefferson Street in Kerrville, Texas, followed by a graveside service at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Peterson Hospice, namely, Debbie, Amy, Dianne, Jaszmyn, Cassie, Dr. Young, and the many other sweet nurses who came to care for Bruce, and also to Haleigh from River Hills Rehab.
