Martin B. Reyes Jr., 92, of Kerrville, passed away Sunday afternoon on January 18, 2026, at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital. He was surrounded by many loved ones.

Martin was fourth generation and a lifetime resident of Kerrville, TX. He was born with the help of a midwife at his family home on Lemos Street to Martin L. Reyes and Juanita B. Reyes on November 29, 1933.

He was happily married to Leonor Arreola Reyes on October 18, 1952, and recently celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary with a blessing at the Notre Dame Catholic Church. They met as young kids while attending primary school at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He later attended school at the Live Oak Ranch. Martin was a hard working man - loyal and kind. He was fun, respectful and honest.

As a young man, Martin worked at the Blue Bonnet Hotel, and from the time he was knee-high until he turned 76, he worked on multiple ranches, shearing sheep from here to Wyoming. He worked at the Kerrville State Hospital with over 40 years of service, and 25 years at Sid Peterson Hospital.

His most cherished accomplishments were his family - watching them all grow. He was a family man, loved a good laugh, a good game, and the occasional cold beer or hot toddy. Martin supported his wife on many occasions at the Doyle Community Center, Salvation Army Kroc Center, and the school functions of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Martin B. Reyes Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Diana Reyes; his siblings, Eloisa Aguirre, Tony Reyes, Domingo (Robert) Reyes, and Henry Reyes; his grandparents, Jose C. Reyes and Ercilia Lozano Reyes; his great-grandparents, Leonardo Reyes and Julia Cordero Reyes.

Survivors include his loving wife, Leonor A. Reyes; his children, Dilia Reyes, Marcus (Patsy) Reyes, Martin B. (Alicia) Reyes III, Mauricio Reyes, and Mario (Michelle) Reyes; his sisters, Oralia Aguirre and Christine Gonzales; his grandchildren, Melissa (Chris) Czerwinski, Tricia (Victor) Varela, Diana (David) Potter, Martin Reyes IV, Christopher Reyes, Diedra Reyes, Rebecca (Mason) Wilkins, Michael Schmerber, Erika (Kyle) Mendenhall, and Eryn (Andrew) Landry; his great-grandchildren, Matthew and Celine Czerwinski, Aviana and Ellana Varela, Raylin Said, Juliana and Grayson Potter, Destiny (Noah) Keefer, Tanner Stamper, Martin Reyes V, Chris, Jamie, Nina, Julie, Brooklynn and Raylee Reyes, Isaac (Frankie) Reyes, Jessica (Alonzo) Caso, Hetta and Grace Stokes, Kyleigh and Kynleigh Mendenhall, Caelyn Reyes, Xander Pinillo, and Brynleigh Landry; and his great-great-grandchildren, Octavio and Evelyn Caso, and Lorenzo, Avianna, and Elijah Reyes. Also, Larry Jobes, and numerous nieces and nephews that were like sons and daughters.

Visitation and Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26 at Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with a Mass presided by Fr. Scott Janysek. Burial will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Martin Reyes IV, Chris Reyes, Michael Schmerber, Victor Varela, Alonzo Caso, and Matthew Czerwinski.

In lieu of flowers, we request you consider a donation to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic High School, Notre Dame Catholic School or Notre Dame Catholic Church. Thank you.

The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses and ICU staff at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, along with lifelong family friend Brad Risinger for his much appreciated kindness, love and support.
