Harrell William Parr Jr. (Bill), age 98, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, in Kerrville, Texas at his home. He was born on August 21, 1927, in Dallas, Texas, to Harrell William Parr Sr. and Edna Mae Norton. On January 6, 1945, he married the love of his life, Vera Lee Parr (Satterwhite), in Durant, Oklahoma. Their marriage was one of enduring devotion and partnership.

Bill was raised and educated in Dallas, Texas. He went on to earn a master's degree in English with a minor in Greek from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas. He proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the Merchant Marines between the years of 1944 to 1949.

Before entering full-time ministry, Bill worked for the United States Postal Service. He began his pastoral service while still in school, filling in for local churches. He later went on to serve faithfully as pastor to twelve churches throughout his distinguished career. Among the congregations he served were First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas; First Southern Baptist Church in Huntington Park, California; First Southern Baptist Church in Glendale, California; First Southern Baptist Church in Fresno, California; First Southern Baptist Church of Tucson, Arizona; and Little Hope Baptist Church in Canton, TX. His ministry touched countless lives through his leadership, scholarship, and steadfast faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harrell William Parr Sr. and Edna Mae Norton, his beloved wife, Vera Lee Parr, and his granddaughter, Micah Danielle Hassell.

He is survived by his sons, Jim Parr and Daniel Parr and his wife, Tina Parr; his grandchildren, Jamie Ray and her husband, Jason Ray; Cody Moss and his wife, Ashley Moss; and Danlee Enzler and her husband, Francis Enzler; as well as ten great-grandchildren who were a continual source of joy and pride.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Grimes Funeral Home in Kerrville, TX, with Bill Norton officiating.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to Peterson Hospice for their compassionate care.

We are so sorry to hear this news. We served with Bill and Vera at 1st Southern in Fresno as the Minister of Music and Youth. Wonderful Pastor and friends.
We rejoice that he is with Jesus and count it one of God’s blessings to have served with them both.
