C. James "Jim" Mans, age 84, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2026, in San Antonio. He was born November 23, 1941, in Texhoma, Oklahoma, the son of Joseph I. Mans and Eleanor C. Renner. Jim's life was marked by faith, family, service and leadership.

A proud graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Jim attended school in Guymon, Oklahoma, and went on to a distinguished career in public accounting. He served as a Certified Public Accountant and managing partner with KPMG for 38 years, earning the respect of colleagues and clients for his integrity, steadiness and clear judgment.

Jim's leadership extended far beyond his profession. He served as president of his junior and senior high classes and of his college fraternity, and later provided civic leadership through the United Way and Chambers of Commerce in Amarillo, Texas, and Wichita, Kansas. He served on the board of Wilbert Funeral Services in Chicago and supported the arts as a director for the symphonies in Amarillo, Wichita and Indianapolis. He also served on the board of the Indianapolis Children's Museum, reflecting a lifelong affection for the enrichment of children's lives.

Faith was first in Jim's life. A dedicated Christian disciple, he taught Sunday school for several years and ministered through Kairos prison ministry and the Walk to Emmaus. He was instrumental in the founding of the Kerrville Global Methodist Church and was known among his fellow parishioners for his quiet devotion, thoughtful counsel and encouragement to others.

Jim was a devoted husband and loving father. He married Frances K. Remmel on January 26, 1963, in Norman, Oklahoma, and the couple celebrated 63 years of marriage. He was a conscientious caregiver and a gracious presence to his daughters, Michelle (Danny) Spencer and Karen Rompot, and to his grandchildren, Austin and Courtney Spencer and Andis Rompot. He took great joy in family gatherings and in supporting the next generations.

An avid pilot for more than fifty years, Jim began his aviation life in Amarillo and treasured the freedom of flight. He also enjoyed golf and was an active member of country clubs in Amarillo; Wichita; Glen Ellyn (Glen Oak), Illinois; Indianapolis (Meridian Hills and Broadmoor); and in Kerrville (River Hill and Comanche Trace).

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Fred Mans; his sister, Doris Neises; and his son-in-law, David Rompot.

Survivors include his wife, Francie Mans; daughters, Michelle (Danny) Spencer and Karen Rompot; sisters Alice (Dick) Watkins and Beth (Kenneth) Longbrake; grandchildren, Austin and Courtney Spencer and Andis Rompot; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM, Friday, March 20, 2026, at Kerrville Global Methodist Church, 94 Coronado Drive in Kerrville.
