Matthew James Hobberlin, 67, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on March 11, 2026, in San Antonio, TX. He was born in San Francisco, CA to John Hobberlin (Kerrville, TX) and Jarilyn Hobberlin (Arroyo Grande, CA) on October 14, 1958. He married Julie Hikida on June 4, 1988, in Orange, CA.

Matt lived his formative years in San Luis Obispo, CA and graduated from San Luis Obispo High School. He then continued his education at Sacramento State University in Sacramento, CA and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Communications.

Matt served in the U.S. Army from 1976 -1980 and then again from Sept 1985 to Sept 1988 as a Field Artillery officer. He then worked in a variety of manufacturing industries throughout his career with his final occupation and retirement as the General Plant Manager from RSI Home Products in 2018.

Matt was an avid golfer, sports fanatic, and a fair-weather football fan. He could recite sports statistics at a drop of a hat! In addition to his passion for sports, he cherished vacation time with family and friends.

Survivors include Julie Hobberlin, daughters Tayler Gonzales (Nano) and Kasey Hamilton (Kenneth), brothers Mark Hobberlin and Luke Hobberlin, father John Hobberlin (Diane), mother Jarilyn Hobberlin, and grandsons Myles Gonzales, Kenneth Hamilton III, and Kyler Hamilton.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors and staff at UT Multi-Specialty Research Hospital (San Antonio, TX) and to Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, CA) for all the care, assistance, and empathy given to Matt and us during his stays.

A Celebration of Life is planned for April 11, 2026, in Costa Mesa, California.
