Lewis (I always called him Lewis) and I were bear trainers at Baylor. Like Qualls said, he knew no fear. In a lifetime, there are a few, perhaps a handful, that you thank God you had the privilege to know. Lewis was one of those in my life. Being best man at your marriage to the wonderful Lori was one of many times with you I treasure. May you rest in peace, my friend.

A lifetime it seems, Lewis, but more like sixty years, ever since I met you at Baylor in 1965. The bravest man I ever met, with a crooked smile, and a "Hey Qualls" to greet me over the phone, always at the oddest hour, over the ensuing half century. A true friend, a true Marine, a daring pilot, an authentic Texan, Hill Country born and bred, may you rest now in peace. I so treasure the memories.
